Michael Schwartz, OD

Dr. Schwartz has been in private optometric practice in Grants Pass since 1979.  A native of Los Angeles, California, Dr. Schwartz and his family came to Grants Pass in order to establish a home in a quieter, more scenic place.  Between the Los Angeles and Grants Pass dwellings, he and his family spent nine years in the San Francisco Bay area, while he completed his military service (Navy:  Assigned to Naval Air Station, Alameda, CA; worked as an aviation electrician on H-3 helicopters) and college.  Within days of his 1979 graduation from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry, he and his wife packed up a moving truck and located here.  They raised five children, all of whom are grown and gone; and have five grandchildren.

Dr. Schwartz works full time plus at the office, but when not working he enjoys some hobbies.  Those hobbies are travel, home projects (including working on his 1979 Corvette) and flying small aircraft.  He fulfilled a lifelong dream by earning his private pilot certificate in 2005, and rents a Cessna 172 periodically for fun flights with family and friends in the beautiful local area.  He is also very connected with his church, volunteering time to assist in leadership and teaching.  Finally, he volunteers time to the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association, the statewide organization that represents Oregon optometrists.  He is currently serving as chair of the public relations committee of that organization.

LInda R.

Linda R., our full time front office assistant, has a number of hobbies including gardening and singing.  She has a truly lovely voice; we heard a CD she had made and we thought it was a professional we were hearing!   She has been with our office for six years, having begun her  assisting career at a medical specialist's office locally.  She has two daughters and a really, really cute grandaughter.

Debbie

Debbie, our smiling morning optician, has thirteen year's experience in the optometric field.  She is skilled in all phases of office operation, be it opticianry, technician work, or the front desk.  She completed formal training as an Optical Technician at the San Diego College of Medical and Dental Assistants.  Debbie's pastimes include her family, coaching girl's basketball at Hidden Valley High School, and teaching at her church.

Linda C.

Linda C., our afternoon optician, has about 22 years of experience in the optical field.  She had worked here for ten years, retiring in 2006--  and we were elated when she recently came out of retirement and rejoined us here!  Patimes and passions include her family of two adult children and five grandchildren; her line dancing; and her art (you should see her watercolors!)  She lives by the (track star) Steve Prefontaine quote "To give less than your best is to sacrifice the gift."

Michele

Michele, our resident "go anywhere, do anything" person, covers a myriad of assignments at the front desk, in the frame/dispensing area, and in technical roles.  Michele has been here five years, coming to us from former employment in the contact lens supply industry.  Michele's hobbies and pastimes include travel, cooking, and chocolate.
